TransWest Credit Union Merger Vote
Dear TransWest Credit Union Member:
We are excited to send the attached ballot for your consideration. Individual TransWest members have indicated a desire for additional full-service branches and a wider range of services. As we have sought to offer expanded products and services, the Board of Directors has felt that a merger opportunity will serve you.
In our view, it was important to find a potential merger partner that shared our member-first culture. Recognizing the advantages that would flow to the membership from a combined larger institution, the decision was made to pursue approval of a merger with Utah Community Federal Credit Union (UCCU). If the merger is approved, you will have access to 21 additional branches, increased online services, additional loan products, and other benefits. It was also important to us to identify a merger partner with deep roots in Utah that demonstrates their commitment to the credit union concepts of membership and personal service.
This process required that a merger request be submitted to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the Utah Department of Financial Institutions for review and permission to proceed. The approval to pursue the merger was granted on October 29, 2024.
A membership meeting to approve the merger with UCCU is currently scheduled for December 30, 2024, with a completed merger targeted by January 1, 2025.
As always, our focus is on what is best for you and the rest of the membership. As we are confident the proposed merger with UCCU will accomplish our goals, the Board is pleased to present you an opportunity to vote on this very important recommendation. Recognizing the importance of this vote, you will have an opportunity to vote early electronically, by mail ballot, or attend the membership meeting and vote in person.
We recommend a YES vote on the ballot. It is truly a win-win for all of us.
Sincerely,
Roger Beynon, TransWest Board Chair Steven Pratt, TransWest CEO
